Beirut, 31 August: The media office of former MP Nasir Qandil reported that "Qandil returned home at dawn yesterday after the international investigation commission into the assassination of former prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri, finished listening to his statement at 0130 [2230 gmt]."
Also, Qandil said that "he will not give any interviews to the media regarding the nature of his relationship to the international investigation into the assassination of martyr Rafiq al-Hariri despite the fact no-one had asked him to do so." Qandil added: "After sensing the professionalism of the investigators' work and their serious efforts to reveal the truth, including going all the way in following up any testimonies or reports placed at the disposal of the commission from the relevant parties, I can only continue to 'bet' on the neutrality and integrity of the commission's work
. I am always ready to place at the investigation's disposal all that the commission believes will benefit this investigation." Qandil clarified that "the commission has nothing to do with using the case for political or media gain and the fact that Lebanese officials were quick to attack dignities or to use the investigations for political and media purposes." Qandil concluded saying: "Our cause is the truth and because the cause of some others is to continue trading in the blood of the martyr premier Al-Hariri for minor objectives, we will continue to support the commission's work in order to keep the substance of what we know about the investigation as belonging to the investigation alone, in order to serve the truth."Source: BBC Monitoring Middle East
