Cairo, 7 Sep: Election commission spokesman Counsellor Usamah Attawiya on Wednesday [7 September] hailed as a positive phenomenon what he said was a strong voter turnout in the ongoing presidential election in Egypt, urging voters to be patient as they queued outside balloting stations across the country.
Judges supervising the election are exerting great efforts to facilitate the voting process, said Attawiya in statements to Egypt's TV.
He added that the supervisory committee was constantly meeting to look into voters' complaints.
Slow balloting and absence of voting cards were among the complaints, the spokesman explained, saying that some voters did not have the required voting cards.
As for extending the time of voting beyond 10 p.m., Attawiya said it depended on the attendance rate.
