Samir Hulaylah, secretary-general of the Palestinian Council of Ministers, has said that Prime Minister Ahmad Quray's visit to Cairo is contingent on the progress of the Palestinian-Egyptian talks over the issues of borders and Rafah crossing.
Speaking to our radio, Hulaylah said that all issues related to the violation of borders and the movement across Rafah crossing can be resolved without the need to make such a visit.
Meanwhile, Communications and Information Technology Minister Dr Sabri Saydam, who is in charge of the Rafah area and crossings, said that the occupation forces opened five gaps in the border fence between the Gaza Strip and Egypt.
Speaking to our radio, Saydam said that Israel, by opening these gaps, seeks to create chaos and disorder at the border crossings to create a political crisis and prevent the Palestinian National Authority [PNA] from operating the crossing.
The PNA set today [15 September] 1800 [1500 gmt] as a deadline for the citizens who illegally crossed the borders to Egypt to return to their homes.
