Al-Aqsa Brigades Reject Palestinian Officials' Comments on Disarmament

Text of press statement headlined "Taking away our weapons will only take place when we liberate the last span of the land of occupied Palestine and when the last Palestinian prisoner is released", published by Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades website on 14 September
The [Fatah-affiliated] Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades in Palestine, including all the heads of their units and military formations, strongly reject the statements made by a number of PNA [Palestinian National Authority] officials regarding the issue of disarming Palestinian resistance movements. We consider these irresponsible statements insignificant and made by persons we have not seen defending the Jabaliya and Rafah refugee camps during the invasions. They were sitting at home having fun and laughing while the blood of martyrs and our weapons were defending the dignity of these camps which made this victory possible.
We in the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades affirm today that we will continue with our resistance and our weapons will remain the protector of this country where the Zionist tanks are still roaming its cities, in Jenin, Hebron, Ramallah and Bethlehem. The only liberator of the rest of our cities, which are full of the tanks of the Zionist occupation, will be our weapons and those of all the Palestinian factions.
Our weapons have never been directed at the chests of our people in order that they should be taken away. These weapons are honourable and pure. They have achieved the most wonderful victories and fierce battles on the borders of the country. Thus, taking away the honourable weapons is like taking away the dignity of the holy warriors and martyrs who defended the honour of the Arab and Islamic nations with these honourable weapons. Consequently, we hereby affirm that we stand side by side with the rest of the military wings of the resistance factions in order to continue on the path of resistance until we drive the occupation from all Palestinian soil. Gaza is not Palestine. Palestine is our land and it is our right to defend it. Our weapons which liberated Gaza will also liberate the West Bank, Jerusalem and Galilee, God willing. They will also liberate the last Palestinian prisoner from the prisons of the occupation authorities and will drive away the last Zionist soldier from our land while bowing his head.
On this basis, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades affirm that their legitimate weapons will only be taken away over the dead bodies of the holy warriors of the brigades and their generous factions. Our weapons will remain pointed at the occupier. The above-mentioned statements are no more than absurdities issued by some of the domineering persons in the PNA. The weapons of the brigades will remain pointed at the occupation and not used for fighting the PNA. We are all the people of one nation and we work so that there will only be one legitimate authority under one army. The weapons of the resistance factions alone will defend this one army.
