The Iranian ambassador to Afghanistan says that the parliamentary and provincial council elections are a positive step to strengthen the people's role in affairs of the government.
In an interview with Radio Dari, Mr Reza Bahrami stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran had a positive view of the recent events in Afghanistan and would support the parliamentary and provincial council elections, which would pave the way for the country's stability and the establishment of legal foundations. Dear listeners, we would like to draw your attention to the ambassador's comments from Kabul:
[Bahrami] In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful. As you mentioned, the first-ever parliamentary and provincial council elections will be held in Afghanistan tomorrow. It appears that the election will be a positive step to boost the people's role in the government and help the foundation of legal associations in Afghanistan.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has had a positive view of the events in Afghanistan so far and has cooperated with the Afghan government and other international relief organizations. Basically, we support the Afghan election itself because we think this process will reinforce stability after years of disorder and turbulence in Afghanistan.
