Iraq's Diyala Police Colonel Killed - Iraqi TV

Unidentified individuals assassinated a high-ranking official of the Diyala Police Command, northwest of Baghdad this morning.
A police spokesman informed Al-Sharqiyah correspondent that gunmen ambushed Colonel Fadil Mahmud Muhammad, head of the command's protection brigades, as he was travelling from the Kan'an sub- district to Ba'qubah, the largest city in the governorate, killing him and his driver instantly.
Two police elements were wounded in an explosive device blast in a Diyala village, in eastern Iraq. A police source said the explosion took place as a police patrol was passing in the Bab al- Arab village, wounding two elements and damaging the vehicle.
