Iraqi PM Denies Iran Helping Insurgents

Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari has denied British claims Iran has been assisting insurgents in Iraq and meddling in its politics.
Such accusations are baseless and we do not agree with them at all, Jaafari said on Iranian state television Thursday. Relations between Iran and Iraq are currently very friendly and strong and expanding. We are proud of the situation.
Wednesday, a senior British government official who requested anonymity said technology used in a spate of roadside bomb attacks which killed at least eight British soldiers in the summer was similar to that given by Iran's Revolutionary Guards to the Hezbollah movement in Lebanon.
Then Thursday, after meeting with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani in London, British Prime Minister Tony Blair mentioned the link again, but added we cannot be sure.
Some British officials believe Iran could be helping Iraq in retaliation for Britain's insistence Iran abolish its nuclear program, The Telegraph said.
