Palestinian, Israeli Officials Discuss Agenda of Sharon-Abbas Talks

Chief Palestinian Negotiator Sa'ib Urayqat and Dov Weissglas, the [senior] adviser close to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, has concluded in Jerusalem a closed preliminary meeting ahead of the expected Israeli-Palestinian summit.
Following the meeting, which was held away from media spotlights, Sa'ib Urayqat told Al-Arabiya that at the end of the meeting the two sides agreed on holding another preliminary meeting on Sunday [9 October].
Al-Arabiya also learned that the Israeli side focused on its security demands and the need for the Palestinian side to guarantee internal security and to put an end to the multiplicity of authorities. The Palestinian side presented a series of demands related to the prisoners, the settlement activities, organizing the crossings and addressing other outstanding issues between the two sides, which had been unresolved since the Sharm al-Shaykh understandings.
The Palestinian side is disinclined to set the date for the summit before good preparations for it have been completed. Meanwhile, Israel is talking about the possibility of holding the meeting next Tuesday [11 October] in response to a Jordanian initiative.
