At least five police elements were killed and twenty others, including six civilians, were wounded when a booby-trapped vehicle went off at an Iraqi police checkpoint in Baghdad. The explosion took place in Al-Ghazaliyah, an area with a Sunni majority. The explosion reached three police vehicles and four civilian vehicles.
Iraqi forces banned the use of cars on the day of the referendum on the Iraqi constitution on 15 October, to prevent similar incidents. It is worth noting that gunmen have sworn to obstruct the referendum, by waging a string of attacks all over Iraq. [video shows damaged vehicles]
