British Police Arrest 10 Bomb Suspects
British police have arrested 10 suspects they believe were plotting car bomb attacks in Britain before heading to Iraq to join the insurgency.
The Sunday Times of London reports the 10 unidentified men were arrested Saturday in three simultaneous and coordinated stings in London, Derby and Wolverhampton.
The Times said the suspects are believed to have been part of a terrorist cell led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the chief of al-Qaida in Iraq.
A Scotland Yard official said the arrests were part of an ongoing investigation.
Police didn’t find any explosive material but continue to search Sunday.
Officials aren’t sure when, where or how the alleged attacks would be carried out, the Times said.
Under British law the suspects can be held for 14 days without being charged.
