Turkish PM visits quake-hit Pakistan to express sympathy
ISLAMABAD, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan arrived here Thursday on a two-day visit to express sympathy with Pakistani leaders over the devastating earthquake.
Erdogan will visit Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, on Friday to personally assess the widespread damage caused by the Oct. 8 quake.
The Turkish premier is the first world head of the government to visit Pakistan after the massive quake, which officials say has killed over 49,000 people and injured more than 70,000 others in the country.
Erdogan will also meet with Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf and hold talks with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
