Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said Turkey plans to build some 3,000 houses along with schools, hospitals and orphanages in Pakistan in long-term help to the quake-hit country. Erdogan was quoted by the Anatolia news agency saying "Pakistan is facing a grave disaster
. We have to quickly take steps to help them." In his recent visit to the Himalayan region, Erdogan promised 150 million dollars in aid for quake victims. More than three million people were left homeless after the 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck Pakistani-controlled Kashmir on October 8, killing more than 53,000 people. Turkey itself is no stranger to earthquakes. Some 20,000 people were killed when two massive earthquakes struck the country in August and November 1999.Source: Info-Prod Research (Middle East)
