Pyongyang, 30 October: The South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification reportedly released a statement titled "We assail an agreement of the South Korea-US 'annual security consultative council meeting' forcing subordination and war" on 26 October.
Referring to the fact that the 37th "security consultative council" meeting agreed on strengthening South Korea-US "alliance" and promoting the "plan for developing the combined forces military capacity" based on the "strategic flexibility" of the US troops, the statement said that this is an act of totally ignoring the demand of the people for independence, peace and reunification in the Korean Peninsula.
The result of the recent opinion poll indicates that all the people consider the US as the main factor of threatening peace and want the withdrawal of its troops, the statement noted, and pointed out:
Such being the case, the US is escalating tension in the Korean Peninsula by designating the North as the "main threat" and reinforcing its armed forces.
Worse still, the authorities squander the tax collected from the people in preparations for a war under the pretext of "independent national defence". It is unimaginable that the tax is spent for the munitions capital of the US, not for independence and peace.
If the US insists on its hostile policy towards the North and policy for domination over the Korean Peninsula in defiance of the demand of all the Koreans for independence and peace, the anti-US struggle will be further intensified, the statement warned.
