Israel kills West Bank militant

JENIN, West Bank (Reuters) – Israeli soldiers killed a
Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant in a shootout in the West
Bank on Sunday, a Palestinian security source said.

The army had no comment.

Palestinian witnesses and security sources said the gunman
was killed during a gunbattle that broke out after the soldiers
surrounded a house where he had holed himself up in Qabatiya,
near the city of Jenin.

An Islamic Jihad suicide bomber from Qabatiya killed five
Israelis at a market in the town of Hadera on Wednesday.
