Gunmen Kill Afghan Police Officer in Eastern District

Jalalabad, 10 November: One police officer was killed and another was wounded in two separate attacks in [eastern] Laghman Province.
A vehicle belonging to Mohammad Sharif, security commander of Alisheng District of Laghman, came under attack in (?Jabin Dag) in which one police officer was killed.
An eyewitness in the area told Afghan Islamic Press [AIP]: "Unidentified people attacked Security Commander Mohammad Sharif in (?Qala-e Najil) area last night. One police officer was wounded in the attack. The security commander arrested some suspects in retaliation. The security commander was transferring these suspects to the centre of the district this morning when their vehicle was fired on. The clash lasted for 30 minutes. A police officer was killed in the incident and the attackers freed the detainees."
Confirming this incident to AIP, the spokesman for the governor of Laghman, Dr Hezbollah, said: "We have not yet received full details of the incident."
