Beijing, Nov. 11 (Jiji Press)--Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. and China Central Television signed a cooperation pact here Friday to promote digital high-definition TV broadcast in China.
Matsushita will supply its high-definition technologies and equipment, including receivers, to the Chinese TV network, known as CCTV, which is planning to air the 2008 Olympics Games in Beijing via the high-definition system.
CCTV started broadcasting high-definition TV programs on an experimental basis in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, in September, and plans to expand the service areas in the run-up to the Olympic Games.
Matsushita is aiming to build a solid foothold in the Chinese high-definition TV market, which is expected to grow rapidly, through the tie-up with CCTV.END
