Amman, 12 November: Iraqi Defence Minister Sa'dun al-Dulaymi, who arrived in Amman this evening, said he came to Jordan to offer his condolences to Jordan and Jordanians and to repay Jordan for supporting Iraq. He stressed that Iraqis empathize with their Jordanian kinsfolk. He added that he is carrying a message to King Abdallah from Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Ja'fari

In statements to the Jordanian News Agency (Petra), Al-Dulaymi said we will defeat terrorism, noting that Iraq issued a [counter] terrorism law two days ago, explaining that Iraq will not only deal with terrorism, but will effectively also deal with the theorists and masterminds of terrorism, financed in Iraq.

He said that Jordan is a country of tolerance and coexistence and Amman is a beautiful city, which terrorists do not want it to remain that way. He added that Amman is a source of pride for its Arab and Islamic status and for reinforcing the role of the kingdom, praying to God Almighty to watch over Jordan, King Abdallah, and the Jordanian people. He extended his thanks and appreciation to the Jordanian Government for the security measures, for guarding the borders, and for fighting terrorism, calling on neighbouring countries to follow suit.

Asked about the NATO 77 tanks which were delivered to Iraq two days ago, Al-Dulaymi said that the new advanced tanks were granted by the donor countries.
