Spanish police arrest 7 linked to Islamic militants
December 9, 2005
MADRID (Reuters) – Spanish police have arrested six men and
a woman on the south coast of the Costa del Sol suspected of
helping fund Islamic militants, state radio reported on Friday.
Neither the Interior Ministry nor local government were
available for comment. Police declined to comment.
The radio said the seven are not Spanish, but their
nationalities are unknown. Police are holding the suspects, who
were arrested on the orders of a Spanish court, in the southern
coastal town of Malaga, it said.
Spain has been on guard against Islamist militants
following last year’s bomb attacks on Madrid commuter trains
that killed 191 people.
