The presidential candidate for MAS [Movement Towards Socialism], Evo Morales, a looks set to win a convincing electoral triumph over the Podemos candidate Jorge Quiroga, according to the initial results reported tonight by three TV channels who give him a victory of nearly 50 per cent, with possibly more to come in the general elections this Sunday [18 December]. [Passage omitted]
Red Uno gives him 49.8 per cent, Unitel 49 per cent, ATB 41.2 per cent and Bolivision 34.1 per cent with about 40 per cent of the votes counted. There are no details of the number of representatives elected to Congress, to know if MAS will have control of the Senate, the key to ensuring governability. [Passage omitted]
