LONDON (Reuters) – British police charged a student on
Thursday in connection with the failed bomb attacks in London
on July 21, a spokesman said.

Adel Yahya, 23, of north London, will appear in court in
central London on Friday charged with conspiracy to cause an
explosion “likely to endanger life or cause serious injury to
property,” police said.

He was arrested on Tuesday at London’s Gatwick Airport when
he stepped off a flight from Ethiopia.

Police say four men tried to set off bombs on three
underground trains and a bus in the capital on July 21, but
their devices failed to detonate.

The botched attacks came two weeks after four bombers
killed themselves and 52 others in bomb attacks on London’s
transport system.

Four men appeared in court earlier this month accused of
planning to carry out the July 21 attacks. Their trial is due
to start next September.
