Palestinians Urge Israel to Form Bilateral Committee for Poll Coordination

The National Authority has called on the Israeli government to form a specialized bilateral committee to coordinate the arrangements for holding the forthcoming legislative elections in accordance with the 1996 protocol
. Sa'ib Urayqat, head of the PLO Negotiations Affairs Department, has said that he made this demand during his meeting yesterday with Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Shimon Peres, with the aim of guaranteeing the movement of candidates and citizens; the transport of ballot boxes; and the deployment of security forces in the vicinity of polling centres.Source: BBC Monitoring Middle East
