Iraqi Shi'I Party, Alliance Members Killed, Bodies Found in Baghdad 27 Dec

Iraqi Al-Sharqiyah TV between 0500 and 1300 gmt on 27 December carries the following reports on security incidents in its news summaries:

At 0700 gmt, Al-Sharqiyah reports that the Association of Muslim Scholars (AMS) denounced on 26 December the arrest of two of its members in Al-Fallujah and Baghdad by US and Iraqi forces.

In its 0900 gmt news summary, the channel reports that a US "Task Force" helicopter crashed on 26 December in western Iraq, killing its two pilots.

The channel reports within the same news summary that unidentified gunmen assassinated Su'ad Ubayd, member of the United Iraqi Alliance and the Diyala Governorate council in northeastern Baghdad.

Within its 1200 gmt news summary, Al-Sharqiyah quotes police sources in Kirkuk as saying that an Iraqi army colonel was killed and two others were wounded when unidentified gunmen opened fire on their vehicle in eastern Kirkuk this morning.

In another report, it adds that Khalid Muhammad, an employee of Al-Iraqiyah channel, was killed when gunmen opened fire on him earlier today in the area of Al-Saydiyah, southwest of Baghdad.

Quoting Iraqi Police sources, the station adds that a police member was killed and another was wounded in Al-Mahawil in a roadside bomb explosion.

Quoting medical sources within the same news summary, Al- Sharqiyah says a decapitated body was discovered in the Al-Malih river, which brings to 205 the total number of bodies received by medical authorities in Al-Kut in 2005. "It is worth noting that elements dressed in the Interior Ministry's commando uniforms have been kidnapping people, who are later found dead off public roads, in orchards, or dumped in rivers."

At 1300 gmt, the station reports that "gunmen assassinated a prominent member of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq [SCIRI] in Baghdad. Quoting a SCIRI member, the station says that Sultan al-Dhabhawi died of injuries he sustained in an attack by unidentified gunmen yesterday.

Quoting Iraqi Police sources, Al-Sharqiyah adds that three bodies with gunshot wounds were found in the Al-Shu'lah district in northern Baghdad. Members of the families of the three victims said the three were from Al-Khalidiyah, west of Al-Fallujah, and disappeared after heading to Baghdad last week.

Another report says that Ibrahim Abbas Tu'mah, director-general of the State Company for Pharmaceutical Industries in Samarra, north of Baghdad, was released only one hour after being kidnapped. Al- Sharqiyah correspondent in Samarra says that "masked men dressed in the Defence Ministry's personnel uniform kidnapped Ibrahim Abbas Tu'man and his bodyguards while heading to the company premises".
