Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is facing a "critical day", according to Dr Avi Kohen, neurosurgery chief at Beersheba's Soroka Hospital. Interviewed on Israeli army radio on 8 January (in Hebrew, 0700 gmt) Kohen said that: "Judging by the latest CAT scan results, the worst is behind us. Today will be definitely a dramatic, critical day. The situation that was presented yesterday was an X- ray picture, and it was encouraging. We may start believing there will be no catastrophe."
The website of The Jerusalem Post adds at 0719 gmt: "On the basis of the latest test results gained from this additional brain scan, the doctors will then determine whether or not to bring him out of his medically-induced coma."
