South Korea Strips Stem Cell Researcher of "Top Scientist" Title

Seoul, 10 January [date as published]: The South Korean government said Wednesday [11 January] that it decided to strip the discredited stem cell researcher Hwang Woo-suk of his status as the nation's first "Supreme Scientist."
Hwang was awarded the honourable title on 24 June, 2005 from the South Korean government.
The government also decided to launch an intensive audit into Hwang's use of state research subsidies, Kim Chang-ho, head of the Government Information Agency.
