Maribor, 19 February: The firefighter who was admitted to Maribor Hospital on Sunday [19 February] morning due to respiratory problems is not infected with avian flu virus, the hospital said today.
The firefighter was admitted to hospital because he has been in contact with swans in the past days, although there is little chance that the patient would have been infected with bird flu.
The Ljubljana Public Health Institute confirmed today that his samples tested negative for avian flu, the press release also reads.
Last Thursday the hospital already admitted one firefighter who was in contact with the bird flu-infected swans. However, tests from the institute confirmed he was not infected with the bird flu virus. He probably only had a cold.
