Excerpt from report by Egyptian news agency MENA website

Cairo, 25 February: President Husni Mubarak is to arrive in Riyadh on Monday [27 February] in a short visit to Saudi Arabia as part of his Arab and Gulf tour, which will start tomorrow.

During the visit, the president will meet the custodian of the two holy mosques, King Abdallah Bin-Abd-al-Aziz of Saudi Arabia, to discuss the latest developments on the Arab and Gulf arenas, in addition to the relations between the two countries.

Diplomatic sources in Riyadh said that the developments of the situation in Iraq will be one of the issues to be discussed during the Egyptian-Saudi summit, in the light of the latest events in the country. The two leaders will also discuss ways to achieve the stability of Iraq and the unity of its people in order to avoid the eruption of a civil war that seems to be in the horizon.

The summit will also tackle the Syrian-Lebanese issue and ways to achieve better relations between Damascus and Beirut in the light of the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq al-Hariri and the two countries' efforts to stabilize the situation in Lebanon and to enable Syria to avoid any negative consequences related to the international investigations on the assassination.

The Egyptian-Saudi summit will also tackle the situation and developments in the Palestinian territories following the victory of Hamas in the recent legislative elections and the formation of a new Palestinian government in the light of the efforts that Egypt is conducting in this regard with various Palestinian factions. The two leaders will also discuss extending aid to the Palestinian people.
