Cairo, 26 February: Saudi Prince Talal Bin-Abd-al-Aziz al-Sa'ud, chairman of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD), urged Arab citizens to donate for the Palestinian government in support of democracy and free elections.
In a statement distributed Sunday [26 February], Prince Talal criticized financially punishing the Palestinian people for electing Hamas.
He said threats to cut off aid to the Palestinians necessitate practical response on the part of Arabs, rather than giving them the lip service.
Prince Talal lashed out at the double-standard policy of some countries that call for democracy and turn their back to the results of the democratic elections.
The US and EU have threatened to cut millions of dollars in aid to a Hamas-led Palestinian government.
