Belgrade, 27 February: Serbia-Montenegro Minister of Defence Zoran Stankovic said that speculation on Ratko Mladic's arrest was completely unfounded and that he expected the EU to offer Belgrade another chance for the continuation of Association talks.
"We have shown that we are ready for full cooperation with The Hague and therefore expect the EU to offer us another chance to continue Stabilization and Association talks," Stankovic said.
Commenting on an article published in The Sunday Times that Mladic had demanded a large sum of money to surrender, Stankovic said that all speculation in connection with Mladic's arrest and surrender was unfounded.
"I do not know the origin of this kind of information. I have also said before that Mladic is not interested in material gain," Stankovic told journalists. [Passage omitted: background details]
