Russian Think Tank Says Iran Will Build Bomb Within Five Years

Iran will acquire nuclear weapons within five years, according to the Foreign and Defence Policy Council, a Russian think tank, Interfax news agency reported on 3 March.
"A minority of experts think that we are talking about a period of six months to two years, but the majority lean towards several years (up to five)," an analytical report produced by the council says. It adds that "the world should start learning to live with a nuclear Iran now".
The report says that although Iran acquiring nuclear weapons will have a negative effect on Russia's security, the consequences will not be catastrophic as long as Iran remains stable. "Tehran will not use weapons of mass destruction or pass nuclear technology to other countries, and certainly not to terrorist organizations," the council says.
The report also suggests that the acquisition of a nuclear bomb by Iran would push Arab countries such as Saudi Arabia and Egypt towards the creation of their own nuclear weapons.
