Jedda, 11 March: Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, secretary- general of the Organization of the Islamic Conference [OIC], has expressed deep concern over the Israeli acting prime minister's statements regarding his future unilateral disengagement plan and the continuing escalation in the various Palestinian areas, which has led to the deliberate assassination of scores of Palestinians, including children.
Ihsanoglu said: The OIC demands that the international community and the Quartet pressure Israel into fulfilling its obligations under the road map and the related lawful international resolutions, and to withdraw from all the territories occupied in 1967 to enable the Palestinian people to establish their independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital and to reach a just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
