Beijing, 16 March: Chinese President Hu Jintao, in a message to his Iranian counterpart Mahmud Ahmadinezhad, called for continued friendly relations between the two countries.
President Hu Jintao's message was handed over to Iranian president's special envoy, Mohammad Javad Ardeshir Larijani who is currently on a visit to China to review issues of mutual interest with senior Chinese officials.
Expressing his satisfaction with the level of Tehran-Beijing cooperation, President Jintao voiced his country's readiness to bolster bilateral cooperation at the international level.
Larijani arrived in Beijing Tuesday morning [14 March] for a two- day visit.
In the meantime, Larijani and Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing held talks on Tuesday to explore possible avenues for bolstering bilateral cooperation on key regional and international issues. They also raised negative impacts of unilateral policy on regional and international issues.
Larijani said he believed that the arbitrary and unilateral policies have brought about dangerous situation in the Middle East region.
The two officials also discussed issues of human rights and Iran's plan to produce nuclear energy for national development plans.
On Iran's nuclear case, Li said that China believes all sides should keep calm to settle the issue peacefully, adding China would continue cooperation with respective parties to find an appropriate solution to the issue.
The Chinese foreign minister has recently reiterated Iran's right to make use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
