Text of report by Pakistan's PTV World television on 19 March; words within double quotation marks are in English
Seven people, including seven security personnel, have been killed in bomb explosion in Dera Ismail Khan, some of whom are injured as well. [sentence as heard] We talked to Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao a short while ago. He informed us:
[Begin Sherpao recording, via telephone] A regrettable incident has occurred in Dera Ismail Khan. An "IED" [improvised explosive device] was planted there; an "IED" had been planted on the "divider" of a road that is "dual carriage". A van of police "patrol" passed by that spot carrying police as well as FC [Frontier Corps] troops; they were doing "joint patrolling".
As they reached near it, the explosion occurred in which three policemen three FC soldiers were martyred; and a passerby, who was passing by that spot, was also martyred. So seven precious lives have been lost, and three people are such as who have been injured. They are now being taken to Peshawar, because they have sustained "head injuries". I have talked to the inspector-general. And he has issued instructions, "orders", for probe, "investigation", immediately. [End of recording]
It was federal Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao.
