Pakistan President Says Nation Proud of Scientists Following Missile Test

[Newsreader] Pakistan today successfully test-fired Hatf-7 Babar cruise missile for the second time. The missile has the capability of carrying //warheads// of all types and can successfully hit its target in the range of 500 km. The cruise missile was test-fired from the ground. However, it can also be launched from submarine as well as frigate. The terrain-hugging missile cannot be seen on the radar. The indigenously produced missile validated all the required / /parameters// and successfully hit its target. President Gen Pervez Musharraf, who witnessed the missile test, said the nation is proud of its scientists and //engineers//, who once again displayed the best of their professional abilities. He said the government will continue to extend all possible cooperation in efforts for making the national defence impregnable.

He said our //strategic programme// reflects the nation's resolve about the national security and we will make it stronger. The basic objective of this //policy// of ours is to maintain a minimum defence capability.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz also congratulated the scientists, // engineers//, and //technical// experts of the whole nation over the successful test of the cruise missile, which has enhanced the defence capabilities of the country.
