Many feared killed in Indian fire
LUCKNOW, India (Reuters) – Many people were feared killed
when a fire broke out on Monday at a crowded consumer fair in
the northern Indian city of Meerut, with around 40 people taken
to hospital with burn injuries, an official said.
“We cannot rule out the possibility of many deaths on
account of the fire,” senior government official Mohinder Singh
Two TV news channels reported that at least 100 people had
been trapped in the fire.
