Indian bus plunges into creek, 28 dead

MUMBAI (Reuters) – An overcrowded bus plunged into a
shallow creek near India’s commercial hub of Mumbai on Tuesday
killing at least 28 people, police said.

The bus, carrying about 60 people, veered off a bridge
after the driver lost control while trying to avoid a
motorcyclist.

“Twenty eight people are confirmed dead,” Archana Tyagi, a
senior police officer, said, adding that another 33 passengers
survived the crash.
