Zarqawi death won’t stop Iraq killing: UK’s Blair
June 8, 2006
LONDON (Reuters) – The death of Iraqi al-Qaeda leader Abu
Musab al-Zarqawi will not stop the killing in Iraq, British
Prime Minister Tony Blair said on Thursday.
Asked if Zarqawi’s death would make a difference to a
monthly death toll of about 1,200 in Baghdad alone, Blair told
reporters: “This isn’t going to change with the death of
al-Zarqawi. We should not have any illusions about this.” But
he added that if al-Qaeda was defeated in Iraq it would be
defeated everywhere.
