S.Korea’s President cancels visit to North
SEOUL (Reuters) – Former South Korean President Kim
Dae-jung, who orchestrated an unprecedented summit with North
Korea’s leader in 2000, has canceled a trip to Pyongyang
planned for next week, South Korean broadcaster YTN said on
The announcement comes as Seoul, Washington and Tokyo have
said there is evidence North Korea may conduct a test-launch of
a long-range missile, which the three have said would present a
grave danger to regional security.
Kim’s office will hold a news conference to explain why the
trip of the former president has been canceled.
