Israel Gets Militants' Tuesday Ultimatum

Israel has been given a Tuesday morning deadline to start releasing Palestinian prisoners, or militants holding a kidnapped soldier will kill him.
In a statement sent to news media, the military wing of the ruling Hamas party, the Popular Resistance Committees and the Army of Islam said Cpl. Gilad Shalit's release hinged on the release of Palestinian prisoners before 6 a.m. Tuesday, CNN reported.
If the enemy does not respond to our humanitarian demands mentioned in previous leaflets on the conditions for dealing with the issue of the missing solder ... we will consider the current file of the solider to be closed ... and then the enemy must bear all the consequences of the future results, the statement said.
In turn, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert repeated his past stance on last week's abduction.
We have no intention of capitulating to blackmail, Olmert said Sunday.
Olmert has a large number of troops and heavy weaponry stationed along the Gaza border, and on Monday morning, Israeli missiles hit two buildings in Gaza City, including the headquarters of the al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade offices, local media reported.
