Japan PM arrives at war shrine on WW2 anniversary

TOKYO (Reuters) – Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi
arrived to pay his respects at Tokyo’s controversial Yasukuni
Shrine for war dead on Tuesday, the anniversary of Japan’s
surrender in World War Two.
His visit to the Shinto shrine, where Japanese World War
Two leaders convicted as war criminals are honored along with
2.5 million war dead, is likely to provoke fury in China and
the Koreas, where bitter memories of Japan’s military
aggression persist.
