Bush: N.Korea Just Making Threats
October 25, 2006
U.S. President George Bush downplayed the threat posed by North Korea, saying Pyongyang has made threats before.
Bush, at a White House news conference Wednesday, said he thinks North Korean leader Kim Jong Il is just testing the will of the five countries working together to convince him to abandon his nuclear ambitions.
This is not the first time he has issued threats, Bush said. Our goal is to continue to remind our partners when we work together we are more likely to achieve the objective.
The United States, China, Russia, South Korea and Japan have been working to get North Korea back to the negotiating table following the North’s Oct. 9 nuclear test.
