Boil-Water Advisory in Both Nanaimo and Greater Vancouver After Pacific Storm

NANAIMO, B.C. (CP) - The City of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island has issued a boil-water advisory to residents in the wake of a fierce wind and rain storm that battered the B.C. South Coast.
The warning about tap water follows a boil-water advisory issued by the Greater Vancouver Regional District for two-million residents.
Nanaimo's Public Works Department says the recent heavy rain on Vancouver Island resulted in increased turbidity in the water supply.
It says the boil-water advisory, like Vancouver, is a precautionary measure - but notes it's particularly important for the ill and people with compromised immune systems.
About 100,000 people live in the Nanaimo area.
