Ethiopian Airstrike Hits Somali Airport

An Ethiopian airstrike hit the main airport of Somalia's capital Monday, injuring a woman and damaging a runway.
Parts of one building were also damaged when at least two Ethiopian fighter jets dropped two bombs on the airport in the first attack on Somalia since the country's powerful Islamist movement declared a holy war on Ethiopia, the Voice of America reported Monday.
Somalia's Islamist movement declared the war on Ethiopia for its support of the secular interim government.
The situation is deteriorating. They are very scared how things are developing, said Mohamed Amin Sheikh Adow, a reporter for Somalia's Shabelle Radio in Mogadishu. Nobody was expecting that Ethiopian bombardment would come to Mogadishu.
Adow said the Islamists, who have seized power in large parts of central and southern Somalia, have urged calm and warned the public to prepare for the possibility of a ground war against Ethiopian troops stationed in the country.
