The ongoing talks between Spanish authorities and the Basque separatist group ETA have been halted following last week’s bombing.

The Interior Ministry said that it was ETA who was to blame for the cessation of the talks.

The bombing — which left two people missing and presumed dead and 19 injured — allegedly was carried out by ETA at Madrid’s main airport.

For three decades, ETA militants have been fighting for a Basque homeland along the French-Spanish border. Their attacks have claimed some 850 lives.
