Inquiry into Ramallah Raid Finds No Wrong
January 7, 2007
An Israeli Defense Forces investigation into a West Bank raid that killed six Palestinians has cleared army officers of any misconduct.
The inquiry concluded the six dead Palestinians were all armed and Israeli troops only used rubber bullets at those who threw stones in Ramallah Thursday, the Jerusalem Post reported Sunday. Thirty Palestinians were wounded in the assault.
The raid was part of an unsuccessful attempt to arrest a wanted Palestinian terrorist.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was in diplomatic talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak when the raid occurred.
