Second Video of Tyrant’s Corpse
By ROBERT STANSFIELD
A GRISLY new video of Saddam Hussein’s corpse with a gaping neck wound was posted online last night.
The grainy camera phone footage shows his body in a shroud after his December 30 hanging.
It comes after an earlier leaked video showing the condemned dictator being taunted on the gallows.
The new film pans up from his feet and when it reaches his head, the white shroud is pulled back to reveal Saddam’s head twisted at a 90 degree angle.
It shows a gaping bloody wound below his jawline.
The 27-second video was put on an Iraqi news site that supports Saddam’s outlawed Ba’ath Party.
Over a link to the film, a headline reads: “A new film of the late immortal martyr, President Saddam Hussein.”
As the shroud is pulled back, one voice on the video says, “Hurry up, hurry up.
I’m going to count from one to four. One, two… hurry up, you’re going to get us into a catastrophe.”
Another voice, apparently the man taking the pictures, says: “Just one second, Abu Ali. I’m about finished.”
A third man says: “Abu Ali, you take care of this.”
Meanwhile, a Baghdad court yesterday heard tapes of Saddam discussing gas attacks on Kurds.
On the tapes, made before a 1988 campaign that saw 180,000 killed, he says of the chemical: “It exterminates thousands and forces them not to eat or drink.
“They will have to evacuate their homes…until we can finally purge them.”
The trial was hearing genocide charges against Saddam and six others. The judge yesterday formally dropped Saddam’s charges.
