Kosovo police have prepared an operational plan dubbed “Armoured Fox” which envisages the deployment of a large number of security forces on the whole territory after the announcement of UN envoy Martti Ahtisaari’s status plan, the RTK TV website reported on Friday (26 January).

Some 10,000 members of the Kosovo police force and international troops taking part in NATO’s Kosovo Force (Kfor) will be ready to intervene in case the situation escalates, Kosovo police officials said, according to RTK.

Ahtisaari presented his proposal on Kosovo’s future status to the Contact Group members in Vienna today. He is scheduled to reveal the plan, which the Kosovo side hopes will include independence, to the Kosovo and Belgrade authorities on 2 February.
