UN Envoy’s Proposal “Opens the Way to Kosovo’s Independence” – Premier

Kosovo Prime Minister Agim Ceku welcomed on Friday (2 February) UN envoy Martti Ahtisaari’s proposal on Kosovo’s status as it “made Kosovo’s future very clear” and “opens the way to Kosovo’s independence”. His remarks were broadcast at a news conference at the end of the meeting between the Kosovo Unity Team and Ahtisaari.

“(The document of) President Ahtisaari made Kosovo’s future very clear and opens the way to Kosovo’s independence. The way in which Ahtisaari describes Kosovo, is as a sovereign and independent state. Nevertheless, this document does not fulfil all our expectations and requests, it does not contain everything that belongs to us and that we have asked for.”
