President Says “Enemies” Plots to Undermine Iranian Nation Have “Failed”
Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinezhad has said that the “enemy” should know that their plots and plans to undermine the Iranian nation have failed. He said: “The Iranian nation is standing. The dear leadership and the nation-serving government are standing. They should know that no one has the right to waver the rights of the Iranian nation.” The president, who was addressing people participating in demonstrations held to mark the 28th anniversary of the 1979 revolution in Iran on 11 February, added that if any one is observed to show in his thoughts, words or actions the slightest negligence, compromise or turnaround over the rights of the Iranian nation, the world should know that he is the most despised person in the eyed of the Iranian nation. The following is the text of the president’s comments broadcast live by the Iranian News Channel (IRINN) on the same day; subheads inserted editorially.
[Ahmadinezhad in Persian after his usual prayer in Arabic] Praised be God who runs the world and no one shares his power and knowledge. [Prayer in Arabic] He does not need anyone and there is no weakness in his heavenly domain. And he does not need anyone. [Prayer in Arabic] The whole world bows to him and attest that God is great. They prostrate in need at his gate. And confess that they are small and needy before him. Man [Bashar] which is one of God’s names and a unique sign of his existence knows this great truth that everything in the world is under God and no one else’s control. And that others’ power is nothing but a hue and cry. The whole world attest to God’s greatness and man too has been told to attest to God’s greatness. God’s knowledge and compassion encompasses the whole world and nothing is hidden from him all over the Earth and heavens. [Prayer in Arabic] Thank God who owns the Earth and heavens and no one shares his territory. The whole world is created by God and he controls life and death. He is living and he does not die and the world is standing there at his will. My dear ones, the call of monotheism has filled the whole world. Everybody, from the Earth to heavens, whoever they are, all the particles of the world continuously are singing this exalted word. [Prayer in Arabic] There is no God but Allah. There is no God but Allah. There is no God but Allah. This pure word is the truth of existence. The dear nation of Iran relies on such a God and walks in the route determined by such a God. They rely on him and seek help from him and trust his promise and see their dignity in obeying him. They only prostrate in need before his gate. And they see their authority and greatness as a gift from him. Our nation gather around the flag hoisted by the son of Hazrat Zahra, i.e, Imam Khomeyni and their cry is the cry of the whole world. This was the cry of all of the prophets from the first to the last one. That was the cry of Imam Ali and Imam Hussain at the time of their martyrdom, the former at the mosque and the latter on the day of Ashura. And that will be the cry of the saviour of the whole world, Hazrat Mahdi next to God’s house. Yes, our dear people are uttering the same cry. They unanimously cry out in every scene: Allah is the greatest.
Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest. [People chanting the same slogan].
Islamic revolution is a “light” guiding humanity
The chant is telling the world that God is great and we are relying on him. It means: You tyrants of the world should know that God is great. You are nothing. You have no power, you have no existence. You have built your houses on the castles of pharaohs and other tyrant. Open your eyes and study the history.
Where are the tyrants who stood against Abraham? Where are the tyrants who stood against the Moses? Where are the Caesars who stood against Jesus Christ?
Dear brothers and sisters, our great Islamic Revolution is a light guiding humanity. The Islamic Revolution is the realization of God’s promise which said if you assist God, God will assist you and will put strength in your steps.
The Islamic Revolution is a massive leap in the life of our nation and the life of humanity toward perfection and exaltation.
Our nation found itself during the Revolution. It reached the height of divine honour from the depth of humiliation inflicted by dictators and the arrogance.
My dear ones, today, the Islamic Revolution is synonymous with Theism and seeking freedom, independence and justice. The Islamic Revolution is synonymous with standing up to cruelty and revolt against tyrants.
The Islamic Revolution is synonymous with compassion, fraternity, kindness and love for humanity. Islamic Revolution is synonymous with progress and material and spiritual exaltation for all nations. Salaam [Peace] of God and the prophets to that exalted Imam [Khomeyni] and his fellow travellers the great martyrs, the self- sacrificing, the free and the soldiers who inaugurated this exalted path for our nation and the all nations of the world.
They created an opportunity so that the wronged humanity of today can liberate itself from the disorientation of various ideologies each of which carry shackles of enslavement for the world.
With God’s kindness and with the Revolution of the nation of Iran, today the wave of consciousness resulting from theism, justice seeking in each corner of the world is manifest.
From the most southerly point of South America to the farthest orients of the world today all nations from any ideology and confession are moving towards desiring God and monotheism and justice seeking. And most certainly were it not for the double standards, ruses and corruption and ploys of the world devourers and bullies the light of monotheism will have warmed our hearts long time ago. And the world will have taken steps towards salvation. The world ought to know that today the nation of Iran is staying true to its allegiance to the Imam [Khomeyni] and the path of martyrs and prophets and pious.
With all its might it will be the guardian of all values and achievements of its great Revolution. It goes without saying that the government, too, following the nation and the ideals of the Iranian nation will do its utmost to keep alive and shining the path of the imam [Khomeyni], the path of the revolution and our martyrs.
My dear ones, the achievements of our revolution, over 28 tumultuous years, are evident to everyone. At the top of the achievements of the dear Iranian nation is the establishment of the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the distinguished guardianship [Persian: velayat] of a just faqih [Islamic jurist; Khamene'i]. The velayat-e faqih is in line with the imamate and a guarantor of the independence, territorial integrity and correct advancement of our nation and country. The velayat-e faqih is the key to the steadfastness of the dear Iranian nation. The velayat-e faqih is the cry of our nation and all nations’ monotheism and love of justice. The velayat-e faqih is the guarantor of the pride, the guarantor of the splendour, the guarantor of the sense of fellow feeling and the guarantor of the Iranian nation’s victories. Over these 28 years, many of the enemy’s conspiracies, many of its acts of sedition and assaults – ranging from political pressure, propaganda plots, efforts to sow dissension and various conflicts created by different groups and gangs, and the imposed [Iran-Iraq] war, in which all the powers of the world were united accomplices [against Iran[, to the creation of some instances of insecurity and psychological warfare - have been foiled throughout the course of the revolution thanks to the wisdom of the dear leader and the ship of the Iranian nation, the ship of the Iranian nation's advancements has reached the shore of calm after the heavy storms of our times.
Leader perfectly healthy to your chagrin
The world ought to know that our great nation has well understood and believes that the Velayat-Faqih [Rule of Juris-consult], which is a branch of the rule by the Great Prophet Mohammad, [Crowds chant salutations to the Prophet] and a branch also of the rule of the great saints [of Shi'i confession] is a rare gem and a divine preciousness.
It is for this very same reason that the nation of Iran has and will stand by, and in obedience to, this divine truth with every fibre to its last breath. [Crowds chant support]
Today the flag of our might and honour is in the hands of the venerated Leadership of the Revolution. The want of triumph by the dark-hearted enemy, and as a result of this ever present central pillar of the Revolution, they have been compelled to miserably and in frustration, take refuge in rumours and lies.
Rumours that are an epitome of their hopes and wishes and with divine blessing, these hopes will be taken to grave like Saddam.
Today, thanks be to God, the dear leader of the revolution is healthy and is carrying the banner of the Iranian nation’s honour and revolution. And the nation, for its part, is moving behind him with wakefulness, with knowledge, with enthusiasm and with unity.
My dear ones, your serving government, is steadfast in its oath to you; our oath to you to spread justice, to serve the people, to be affectionate, to strive in a comprehensive and all-sided way for the country’s material and spiritual progress. Our oath to you to defend the ideals and to preserve the independence, honour and glory of the Iranian nation. Thanks be to God, your offspring in the government are standing by this oath with their entire being. And with your support, we’re moving forward along all these dimensions, with speed, strength and initiative.
My sisters and brothers, the achievements of the Islamic Revolution, despite all the acts of malice, despite all the pressure and conspiracies, are unprecedented in the history of our nation and in the history of all the nations of the world.
See for yourself, today, in the industrial arena, the Iranian nation is the most advanced country, whereas, at the time of the victory of the revolution, we were among the most backward countries in the world in industrial terms. In the agricultural arena, thanks to farmers and specialists’ efforts, today, we’re quickly turning into the main agricultural exporter in the region. There was a time when we imported more than 5m tonnes of wheat alone. But thanks to the efforts of those dear ones, in this year alone, we’ve exported more than 2bn-dollars worth of agricultural products.
In the arenas of development and infrastructure, extensive projects, from water, roads and dams to refineries and factories, are being implemented rapidly. Some of our plants [Persian: barkhi az majmu'ehha-ye ma] are unprecedented or rare not just in Iran and the region but in the entire world.
In many specialist fields, the offspring of this land are shining in different scientific and technical arenas of the world. Efforts are bearing fruit on self-sufficiency in different areas. In the arena of training and education, the expansion of universities and educational centres and the expansion of technology, progress and inventions and proud achievements are continuing on a daily basis.
On non-oil exports, this year, thanks to God’s grace, we’ll pass the 15bn-dollar mark this year [Iranian year ending on 20 March] and this is a record in the entire region and in countries that are advancing like us. Over just these Ten Days of Dawn [revolution anniversary period] this year, more than 14,000 development projects, with more than 7,000bn tomans of investment, were commissioned and thousands of industrial, agricultural and production projects were commissioned.
My dear ones, today our dear homeland and our dear Iran is conquering the frontiers of world science and technology, and, in many sectors, it is moving at a great distance [ahead] from the countries of the region.
“Enemy” angry with Iran’s progress
This year, during the Ten Days of Dawn, you saw some of the technological and scientific achievements made by [Iranian] scientists on the prevention and treatment of the fatal disease of AIDS. They [foreigners] created the disease. They were the basis of the creation of this disease [Persian: payeh-ye ijad in bimari budand]. But the dear Iranian nation, the humanitarian nation of Iran, the pious Iranian nation creates the medicine for it and puts it at the disposal of humanity.
You saw how our doctors put on display very valuable achievements on the treatment of spinal injuries. We are among the two or three countries in the world that can treat AIDS. And on the treatment of spinal injuries, we rank among the top five countries in the world.
You saw how on the production of special and very complex medicines, the achievements of our country’s scientists placed us among the world top 10 countries. During the Ten Days of Dawn only part of our progress and achievements was introduced. God willing, form now on new achievements in various fields will be announced in turn.
On the national front, the Iranian nation is the dearest, the most independent and liberal nation in the world. Today, the Iranian nation has turned into the symbol of theism and justice for all other nations. Today, the Iranian nation is a reassuring source of reliance for all other nations and the Islamic Republic system is the symbol of movement towards a happy life for all other nations. As it happens, the reason for the enemies’ anger and anguish is our achievements, our progress and our nation’s quick and forceful move forward.
Note that the enemy’s conspiracies and plots against our nation have continued since the victory of the Islamic Revolution. They have done their best to ensure that the Iranian nation fails along the path of its great Revolution, but they have failed.
The conspiracies started on the morning of 23 Bahman 1357 [11 February 1979]. Propaganda pressure, efforts to create domestic conflict and divide, economic sanctions, the imposed war, extensive and continuous sanctions and political pressures were introduced at various points in time for various excuses.
One day they said: Why have you had a revolution? Another day they said: You are trying to export your revolution. Another day, while we were under extensive attack by the enemy, they called us war mongers and described us as “anti-peace”. And another day, whilst they themselves had set up torture chambers and secret prisons around the world and kidnapped free people from other nations and tortured them in those prisons, accused us of violating human rights.
Everyday they use a certain pretext to act against our nation. But the fact is that they are angry and unhappy with our independence, grandeur and the progress of our nation. Today, the pretext for their opposition is the progress the Iranian nation has made in the field of nuclear energy.
On nuclear issue
Thank God, you are in on details of the nuclear question. Today I want to review this important issue. You know that the nuclear question has three completely separate aspects: one aspect is legal, a second aspect is technical and the last aspect is political.
As far as the legal aspect is concerned, the whole world knows that the Iranian people have acted in keeping with rules, in keeping with regulations and in keeping with its obvious rights under the agency [International Atomic Energy Agency] regulations. Today our nation is the most committed member to agency [IAEA] regulations. The most comprehensive oversight and inspections are in effect when it comes to our nuclear facilities.
Under [IAEA] regulations, we are entitled to use the full [nuclear] fuel cycle. It is interesting that under the agency regulations, countries in possession of nuclear technology have a duty to offer the technology to fellow members which are applying for it. Of course, unfortunately they have not helped us at all along the way.
The Iranian people, in keeping with regulations and with self- reliance, have acquired this technology and have it in their possession now. We are interested in complying with regulations. Today, although the respectable Majlis [parliament] has allowed the government to cut cooperation with the agency and the nuclear Non- Proliferation Treaty and even fully withdraw from it [NPT], the government, in coordination with the Majlis has yet to use this authority and is interested in defending the rights of the Iranian people within the framework of law and in fully retaining the right of the Iranian people.
Fortunately all official reports released by the agency confirm the soundness and legal nature of the movement of the Iranian people. So far, they have not observed a single offence or a deviation. Of course they talk and, at times in reports under pressure from America and Britain, raise ambiguous and controversial questions which lack legal basis and foundation. The Iranian nation is interested in continuing its path in keeping with regulations.
On technical aspects of nuclear issue
The second aspect is technical. As I said, our scientists and experts relied on themselves and their capabilities to launch the nuclear job. And the Iranian people are today in possession of nuclear technology and use this technology in various peaceful fields. In Esfahan, in Natanz and in other nuclear centres [changes thoughts] from mines to the enrichment [facility] in Natanz, [they] are all active. Today the technical trend of our activities is very strong, firm and ever-increasingly progressive.
Today preparation of the mines in Yazd and Bandar Abbas is in the capable hands of the Iranian youth and we are going [full steam] ahead. In washing and processing material in Esfahan, everything is going ahead fast. In production of heavy water and the power plant which runs on heavy water and in production of deuterium-less water which has medical application and is used in treating incurable disease, work is in progress.
In production of some rare elements which are widely used in agriculture, industry and treatment [medicine], such as molybdenum [as heard] our nation has scored major achievements. Likewise, in completion of Bushehr power plant, work is in fast progress.
In completing research and development, we have reached certain new milestones which we shall gradually and in turn announce to the Iranian nation from this week onwards. The technical aspects of our activities are completely transparent and all our activities are being conducted in front of the cameras of the Agency [IAEA].
And we are the only country that puts its research and technical activities open to the journalists. No other country in the history of using nuclear technology has shown such assuredness and transparency.
On political aspects, history of Iran’s nuclear issue
As for the political aspects of this, as you know and the world knows, today the Iran nuclear issue is a completely political one. It is neither a legal issue nor technical. It is political.
The same lot who did not want the cherished nation of Iran to progress in the past 28 years are creating issues with purely political motives almost every day. Every day, they come with one pretext. Today their pretext is the nuclear progress [of Iran].
A few years ago they said that we do not trust you [Iran]. They put some papers together and concocted some dossier, the statements of certain people were relayed which were misrepresented. There was absolutely no truth to these statements. They were all fabrications. They said we have no confidence in the [peacefulness of the] nuclear movement of the people of Iran.
The government of the Islamic Republic of Iran cooperated with them with honesty and with the purpose of building confidence. They [the West] advanced more and more. The government of the Islamic Republic suspended nuclear activities step by step and in compliance with their demands. It [the government of Iran] even suspended the activities in Isfahan, which according to the definitions of the Agency [IAEA] is not considered part of the [nuclear] cycle facilities.
The officials of the agency came and contrary to the regulations sealed the Isfahan plant and suspended it. However, instead of appreciating this honesty, our cooperation and goodwill, they brought up new excuses every day. They said you [Iran] should shut down all activities and let’s clinch an understanding during the course of the talks, so that we [the West] could trust you and you could do what you are doing [as heard]. But when you look at the talks, when you see the documents, the only thing they have not admitted to, is the obvious right of the Iranian people to peaceful use of nuclear technology.
They stepped up their illegitimate demands so much so that the Iranian government acted in contravention of internal regulations and without parliamentary approval to sign the additional protocol which would allow them extensive access to all facilities of the Iranian people. Then they acted under the protocol, which had not even become official under our laws, and kept an eye on every place. Still they said they did not trust us.
Of course, it is quite clear. Under agency regulations, there is no clause suggesting that if a member seeks to use nuclear technology, it should win the trust of a handful of American and European countries. You [Western countries] build nuclear power plants every day. You develop your nuclear technology every day. Have you ever won our trust? Have you every won anyone’s trust? Have you been committed to the same regulations you have drawn up? Does the agency have a report on nuclear facilities in America and Britain? And is it ready to release it to nations and the world public opinion. They took their demand to such an extreme that they demanded that research at our universities should come to a halt.
It was natural and is natural for the respected, mighty and independent Iranian nation not to bow to such impositions. No independent nation would accept these impositions. Eventually when it became clear that they were lying and they were not after trust, rather they were seeking to deprive the Iranian nation of its rights, we decided to change tack, restart our work under regulations and of course continue the path of confidence-building through another approach.
In keeping with law, the agency was informed and activities got under way. At the same time, of course, the best and most practical and transparent proposal to build confidence was put forth. As a son and a servant of this nation, at the UN General Assembly I told those who claimed trust was lacking we are ready to disarm [take away any excuse from] them and build confidence by allowing them to invest in and be part of our nuclear activities. [I suggested] that we form a joint consortium to act together.
If you [Western countries] assume you are worried, join in, have an up-close look and win trust. Even we drew up some regulations for this partnership in government and made them public. It is still enforced [still stands]. However, they did not welcome this real and objective proposal.
They ambiguously say they do not trust [us]. When will we be able to win your trust, we ask. Implicitly and explicitly, they say only when you do not have the nuclear fuel production technology. It became clear that they were after an excuse. It was natural for us not to heed these illegitimate excuses.
On suspension of uranium enrichment activities
They took a decision at the agency [International Atomic Energy Agency] and then adopted a resolution in the UN Security Council. They told us to suspend [our nuclear activities] before holding talks. On the one hand, they say they want talks, but for any negotiations they set the kind of conditions which would ignore all the nuclear rights of the Iranian people.
We said if you are in favour of talks, why do you keep insisting on suspension? If we suspend, what are we going to talk about? Why should your fuel production plants go full steam ahead round the clock, but the Iranian nation which is at the beginning of the path should stop its activities.
We said we are ready for talks but they should come under just and equal conditions. It is not [fair] that your plants remain operational at full tilt but we stop and then beg for our rights outside the doors of your offices. The Iranian people will never bow to such humiliation. [The crowd chants "God is great".]
However, the important question here is that why they insist we suspend before sitting at the negotiating table? This is a key question. We need to be vigilant in this regard. They say they are in favour of talks and discussion. But they tell us to suspend before holding talks.
Initially they were talking about permanent suspension. When they realized that we were not going to bow to that demand, they called for a six-month suspension, then for suspension during the course of the talks, and still then for a two-month suspension. Even they suggested that we use technical excuses for suspending our activities in order for the talks to get under way. Why do you insist on suspension, we asked. They said that they had vowed to stop the Iranian people but had been unsuccessful. They said that they had lost their face and that [the demand for suspension] was aimed at saving face. You care about your own reputation but the reputation of the Iranian people is not important to you, we said. Aren’t you expecting too much?
My fellow Iranians that is the real scenario of suspension. We have to remain vigilant. They want to fool us. They want to offer unreal and ambiguous promises [changes thoughts] Even in the proposed [incentive] package they offered, they failed to openly recognize the legal right of Iranian people to nuclear fuel cycle and production of nuclear fuel.
They ambiguously say the Iranian people are entitled to nuclear energy. But when we talk to them they say you [Iran] do not need to produce fuel. You just run a power plant and we will provide you with fuel. That translates into the same imperial relation [equation] of the past 150 years. They want to fool us. As soon as we implement suspension, they will switch on the outlets of their propaganda machine, many overseas and some elements inside [the country], not to let us restart our activities.
As you saw two years and a half elapsed after the suspension [of uranium enrichment] until during the life of the new government [ninth government led by President Ahmadinezhad] nuclear technological activities were resumed.
As you know it is not concealed to any one that nuclear technology is a necessity for our nation and all nations today. This very year, we have added more than 5,000 MW to the electrical capacity of the country. This comes at a great cost as this electricity is generated as result of expending gas, oil and fossil fuels.
One day these forms of energy will be exhausted and all this at a time that we are still incapable of meeting the nation’s industrial demands [for energy].
No country in our region can add 5,000 MW per year [to its capacity]. We have done it and yet we are still lagging behind. Today in the field of industry, agriculture, our progress, our medicine, we and all nations are in need of the nuclear cycle and nuclear energy. They want to monopolise this as an instrument of domination over the nations. They do not want us to have this.
After they were defeated over suspension they went for threats against us. On the occasion of the Zionist regime attacking Lebanon, and at the height of the confrontations in Lebanon, instead of issuing resolutions to hold a ceasefire in Lebanon they issued a Resolution [1737] against our nation. It is obvious that they oppose our progress vehemently.
As for the second point; they had presumed that through threats, pressures and resolutions, we will retreat. We are informed of their private analyses, they said [calculated] that if we pile on the pressure on Iran, the resistance of the government and people of Iran will ultimately break. They added on the pressure. They saw however that the people of Iran stood up to them and resisted.
Iran “Nuke-bash”, “Yankee” hope-dash
Today my cherished ones, they are pursuing other ploys in their heads. They know that they can not achieve much with sanctions. They have embargoed us before. They have conducted economic sanctions against us before.
At the time of Mr [President] Clinton they passed a law disbarring any country to conduct deals with Iran exceeding 20 million dollars.
All countries were barred from dealing with essential goods and spare parts and sophisticated technology. They prosecuted thousands of companies and suspended and sanctioned them. But they were witness to the fact that the cherished nation of Iran, while being sanctioned by them, is on the trajectory of progress in all domains. It is relying on its own youth to access nuclear technology.
They know full well that the instrument of sanction belongs to 30 years ago. Even small nations cannot be threatened by these sanctions let alone a big nation like Iran. This is the great nation of Iran and the great power of the nation of Iran.
Cherished ones, today they are trying to do something else; they want to inflict powerlessness, discord and intimidation on our nation.
They themselves, and in the arena of international politics, are facing a crisis and they want to transfer this crisis into our country and nation through evilness and hypocrisy.
They are waging a psychological war and rumours against the pillars of the [Islamic] system through fabrications. They are making threats against the people, with actions, which they would never have the capability to carryout. They are providing opportunities to certain factions, they want to activate certain platforms, they want to engage certain mouths in order to weaken the solidarity of the people.
This is their design today as it was their design two or three months ago. But with Divine providence you stood united, resolute and piously behind the venerated person of the Leader last year on the occasion of the commemorations of the Revolution and on different occasions. And [you] insisted on your inalienable rights; you ought to know your participation and the participation of all the nation of Iran all over the cherished land of Iran, today, showing unity and solidarity has pacified the latest conspiracy of the enemy.
Last year you insisted on your rights and today you came, with Divine providence, to reiterate this inalienable right and disappointed the enemy. You slapped them down causing disappointment and regret for them. This is the great nuclear festivity of the nation of Iran.
Iran to announce “great nuclear progress” by 9 April 07
They should know that they have failed. The Iranian nation is standing. The dear leadership and the nation-serving government are standing. They should know that no one, no one has the right to waver the rights of the Iranian nation. And if any one is observed to show in his thoughts, words or actions the slightest negligence, compromise or turnaround over the rights of the Iranian nation, the world should know that he is the most despised person in the eyed of the Iranian nation.
Of course, the enemies will be saying things and taking measures for several months, but they know and we know too that the dear Iranian nation has crossed the impasse on 22 Bahman 1385 [As received, 11 February 2007] and established its irrefutable right.
You will witness the massive progress of the Iranian nation by 20 Farvardin 1386 [9 April 2007]. A number of great and unprecedented developments in industry, agriculture, medicine, and particularly in the field of nuclear technology will be announced.
I do not want to keep you. I will mention a few small points. Their mistake was that they wanted to scare our nation in the month of Muharram [month beginning 21 January]. The Iranian nation is a supporter of Imam Husayn [third Shi'i imam martyred for his beliefs] and will not allow fear into its heart at any time of the year, particularly in the month of Muharram which is the passionate and splendid month of Husayn. They are mistaken. We do not know why they keep repeating the same mistakes. These mistakes are going to cost them.
On situation in West Bank, Gaza and Iraq
Note what they are doing in Palestine. Our stance is clear. We call for a referendum for all ethnic and religious groups in Palestine. The native Palestinians [crowd interrupting the sentence with chants]. We suggested a referendum, they disagreed. When we ask questions about the Holocaust and its relationship with the establishment of the Zionist regime they accuse us of wrong doing. And when we tell them that they are committing genocide in Palestine everyday under the pretext of Holocaust, something that is not allowed to be researched, instead of seeking the truth, they accuse us of wrong doing. Instead of accepting justice, they accuse us. The situation is deteriorating every day and they are being more despised. They should know that destroying the Al-Aqsa Mosque is not going to solve their problem. Not only this act will not buy them honour but it will bring forward their fall and their death.
We have advised them before, and advise them again that: Your problem will not be solved with waging a new war in Lebanon. Your problem will by solved by abiding by the law and accepting the rights of nations. We advised them not to enter Iraq without due care. They did it. They said they were looking for weapons of mass destruction and were after overthrowing the dictator. Well, they could not find the weapons and the dictator does not exist any more.
What are you after now? What are you looking for in Iraq? Hundreds of innocent people have been killed, injured or made homeless in Iraq since your arrival. Today Iraq has a popular constitution. There is a parliament and a popular government in Iraq. What are you doing in Iraq?
We advised you to handover the power to the Iraqi government and its people and save yourselves. You did not listen. Now you have started a phoney war between Shi’is and Sunnis. You have arrested our innocent consulate employees and then blow the trumpet of victory and war. We advise you [sentence interrupted with chants].
The Iranian and Iraqi nations are brothers. Millions of Iranian and Iraqis visit each other’s countries. We have a common history, culture and belief. Iraq’s security, stability and honour is our security, stability and honour.
Those who will be most harmed by insecurity in Iraq are its neighbouring countries. But you, instead changing your behaviour, are after accusing others.
You have sent us a message asking for help in withdrawing from Iraq. Despite our mistrust of you, we accepted to help. However, you have chosen the path that leads to nowhere. You have arrested a few and by doing so have created problems for yourselves. This indicates the ultimate weakness on your part. Not only that, there will be no political gain in this. This will pull you down further.
We advised you on the nuclear issue to stand side by side the Iranian nation. You took the wrong path. You have chosen to use international organizations as tools.
West “discredited” Security Council
You do not realize that exploiting the Security Council will endanger the world security because you have undermined its credibility. You have discredited this body in the eyes of nations and governments. Today everyone knows that the decisions made by the Security Council have been arrived at under political pressure from America and Britain. What is the credibility of these decisions? How can the world security be ensured based on such decisions?
But you [the West] did not listen. You made the atmosphere tense. You issued a resolution. You are isolating yourselves. You are making problems for yourselves. The further you proceed along this path the more problems you will have. The problem will become more difficult to solve. The Iranian nation has no problems. You are entangling yourselves in the web that you have spun. The further you proceed along this path the more problems you will have.
They have no other options but friendly and legal co operation with our nation. Our nation is peaceful and justice-seeking. In order to take the world towards dialogue, we wrote a letter to them and declared ourselves ready for an open discussion.
They pin their hopes, apparently, on their riches, weapons and defeated military power. Instead of considering nations, they only consider their own political parties, groups and their own deep pockets. They ought to know however, they are defeated. Those who have the largest military presence and are present at all battlefields have no right to accuse others of militarism. Today, I advise you once again that the door is still not closed to you. Return to legality, return to justice. Return to friendship with nations and the path of the prophets.
You will reap no benefits from this war in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon. You will have to remember that if you do not pay heed to this message the nations of the region will stand up to you. And one final statement [Crowds chant slogans], it is possible that you can cause some nuisance for our nation in their quest for prosperity. You ought to know however that this leadership and this nation are standing firm on the honourable path of constructing an independent and happy Iran with ideals. Triumph and victory will obviously be theirs. Resistance and victory will continue with resolve. In this honourable path, my cherished ones, piety, unity and patience will guarantee victory. O’ world, see Iran, it is the nation of Iran which like Mount Damavand, is standing up firm and insisting on its inalienable rights. Those who have not yet joined [indistinct reception] the path of the nation of Iran ought to join before it is too late.

Those who remain behind, those who are affiliated to the rest of the world and those who are in awe of the enemy and are ready to sacrifice a whole nation at alter of the satisfaction of the enemies; will get nowhere.
Islam is the direction of clarity and path of righteousness for our nation. Salaam [peace] is my last word my cherished ones. Salaam of God upon Mahdi [Last Shi'i saint believed to be in occultation and destined to return to dispense justice to the world] the absolute word of divinity. Salaam to he whose return is anticipated by the prophets whose arrival the downtrodden are joyful of.
Salam to universal hope and the worldly. Salam to the cherished of the family of God [Mahdi] and that compassionate justice- dispenser who is the life of the world. The cherished one [still talking about Mahdi] from whom the scent of Mohammad [loses the flow of this name as if he has lost the thread on the page he is reading from] reached the nostrils of the world. Salaam to that epitome of compassion and kindness [still talking about Mahdi] and the pleasant loveable face and Salaam to that fruit of existence, the masterpiece of creation and the ally of the downtrodden Hadrat Mahdi and Salaam to the cherished nation of Iran. In my concluding remarks, as your servant, as your younger brother, I thank you for this piety, this vigilance and perception and honourable participation in nationwide rallies. And thank God for so much indispensable blessings. Peace and divine providence be afforded to you.
