KYIV. Feb 24 (Interfax) – The leaders of the Our Ukraine and Yulia Tymoshenko bloc factions are to forward a joint letter to Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko on Saturday.

The letter “will come as the first step in the joint opposition activities of these two political forces aimed at removing the ruling coalition,” Tymoshenko told a news conference following the signing of an opposition merger accord in Kyiv on Saturday.

“This letter will stop the movement of [Prime Minister Viktor] Yanukovych and his team toward usurping power in Ukraine and destroying everything of Ukrainian origin,” she said.

The activities of “the so-called anti-crisis coalition are not controlled either by society or constitutional norms. The implementation of the state’s foreign and domestic policy is under threat as long as the ruling coalition remains in power,” Tymoshenko said.

Chief of the presidential secretariat Viktor Baloha said that Yushchenko’s leadership of Our Ukraine will benefit the party.
