Islamabad, 22 March: The newly tested cruise missile – Babur – has also been included in the mechanized columns as part of Pakistan Day parade being held at Jinnah Stadium on Friday 22 March]. The scientists and engineers of the country on Thursday successfully test fired the missile with an enhanced range of 700 km, the official sources told APP here. Earlier in 2005, the cruise missile was tested for the first time with a range of 500 km.

The Babur missile is capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads.

Cruise missile is usually low-flying guided missile and remains un-detected by the radar system and hits the target with “pin- point” accuracy.

The defence experts have termed it a milestone in the country’s indigenous missile system development which will prove to be a real punch in the country’s defence capability.
